Welcome to Long Island Mixed Martial Arts, Inc. LIMMA is the premiere organization dedicated to promoting the multidisciplinary approach to the Martial Arts on Long Island & NYC. LIMMA allows practitioners of diverse styles to bridge rifts through providing information, seminars, tournaments, etc. allowing individuals to develop further through multidisciplinary approaches. LIMMA specializes in three main areas: - Classical Martial Arts
- Martial Arts for Sport
- Reality Based Martial Arts
For individuals interested in the classical arts, LIMMA will be putting on events, seminars, classical tournaments, etc. On the LIMMA website there are places to discuss the classical arts, the mind and the body. LIMMA is very involved with various Martial Arts sporting events on LI, such as Kickboxing and seminars. In addition, LIMMA is involved with trying to get MMA events legalized with NYS. From LIMMA's perspective people join martial arts schools for variety of reasons, but at the end of the day, can one defend themselves on the street in a real situation. LIMMA has a huge focus on Reality Based Martial Arts and is involved with putting on seminars and talks about related things. The concept of LIMMA was thought up in 2008. It is well understood the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the study of all martial arts to being street effective. Classically, the concept of "Mixed Martial Arts" has been synonymous with the sporting event. At LIMMA, "Mixed Martial Arts" means something very different. We see it as the mixing of different martial arts for individuals to keep and throw away what does and does not work for them. In this regard, a person develops a personal hybridized self-defense system that is based on classical arts, but works best for their body type, personality, life style, etc. LIMMA is always looking for new information to share with the martial arts community. We are looking to promote: - Skills
- Schools
- Services
- Seminars
- Tournaments
- Gatherings
- Etc.
